This project seeks to encourage the young ladies of Southwark by empowering them with the knowledge of womanhood, building self esteem, being focused in life with the ambition to want to achieve something positive for themselves, hence making them contributors to the society. It will also help them to give back to the community by getting a job therefore eradicating unemployment in Southwark (changing and erasing the negative perception that people have about Southwark), making them more responsible, going back to school, helping others and being a positive role model.
The project is to develop a training centre that will primarily be based on the creativity of developing the female Young people of Southwark (14-17yrs) into women. It was found during research that Southwark has a large percentage of young girls who are drop outs and left their homes.
The project aim to empowering the female young people of Southwark to have positive vision & career aspirations, to equip and groom them with the right character, attributes & skills required to grow into responsible adults. We will achieve this by offering training in soft skills (communication skills, writing a good CV, money management, time management, interview techniques and basic computer training skills); and in home economics (cooking different types of dishes, cleaning, sewing skills, flower arrangements, dressing to impress, dinning etiquettes, and social graces). We are establishing links with the local youth clubs, community centre & certain secondary schools to publicise the project and get referrals. By bringing this project into reality, we hope to nurture and encourage a more productive youth.
The project is funded by voluntary donation from members of The Everlasting Arms Ministry, local businesses and the public to pay for publicity, various materials & equipments, refreshments & lunch and a professional trainer. All other professional trainers will be volunteering their services for the project, the premises, computers & sewing machines etc are also offered free. This project will be situated in the civic centre building on Old Kent road. Ten female young people are expected to attend each session. Contact us for training dates and availability.
